REX Frequently Asked Questions
General
- What is REX?
The RIAS Extension (REX) is a supplemental system for RIAS that provides university staff with the ability to view and manage their expenses, salary reallocations and travel and business expense reports (TABERs) for grant and non-grant accounts.

- How do I set up departmental user accounts?
The main accountant at each department will use the User Configurations tab to view and/or modify the users of the system, and give access to the modules and privileges within the system. The main accountant can assign users one of the following access levels for grant and non-grant fund sources: No Access, Accountant (full access) or PI (view only), and one of the following access levels for Travel and Business Expense Report (TABER): No Access, Accountant (full access), or Basic (preparer).

- In REX I cannot find my organization(s). What is the reason and how can I fix it?
If you do not see your organization(s), it is likely due to one of the following reasons:
- Your Extended Budget Responsibilities Codes (EBRCs) were not coded properly
- Your accounts (fund sources) don't have the correct EBRC coding
- Your EBRCs have not yet been processed and/or updated
- Email or call the Help Desk at 732-445-2100

System Access
- How do you get access to REX?
To gain access to REX, one employee in each area (e.g. the Business Manager), will be designated as the main accountant, and must complete the REX Departmental Access Request Form. The main accountant is responsible for providing access to other employees within the department.

- How do I access REX?
Sign on to the RIAS Gateway. After clicking on the Login box, it will bring you to a Central Authentication Service (CAS) page where you can login with your NetID and password. Under the application links, select REX.
